Founded in 1786, Friends Seminary, the oldest continually operating coeducational, independent Quaker school in New York City, is seeking a full-time Educational Technology Coordinator. Reporting to the Academic Dean and the Director of Technology, this role is a vital addition to the School's academic and technical leadership, tasked with coordinating technology integration in the classroom and defining policies and standards for technology use across all grades. The Coordinator will research and identify opportunities to apply emerging technologies to enhance pedagogy, accessibility, and learner engagement while also acting as a partner in the rollout and implementation of new tools and practices.
The Educational Technology Coordinator will provide ongoing formal and informal training, coaching, and research to support faculty in the innovative use of key software platforms and various digital learning tools. They will develop, maintain, and deliver comprehensive documentation and training to enable the adoption and consistent use of academic technologies. The position will also evaluate and manage the ongoing use and integration of AI technology. Beyond faculty support, the Coordinator will formalize computer training for students to ensure they develop appropriate technical competencies and can fluently navigate essential academic work.
Working collaboratively across departments, the Coordinator will also help synchronize the technical and curricular efforts of Library Services, Computer Science, and Learning Support Specialists to create a cohesive technological vision. More broadly, the Coordinator will evaluate the School's use of technology to support its mission, goals, and program. By focusing on both strategic development and hands-on use of education technology, this role will help foster a culture of continuous improvement for both faculty and students.
Key Responsibilities
Research, evaluate, and pilot new and emerging educational technology tools, platforms, and approaches
Evaluate current educational hardware and software across divisions to identify needs, redundancies, and opportunities
Streamline tools and services so as to better target technical support, faculty professional development, and student use
Develop and deliver templates, frameworks, and toolkits to enable scalable adoption of new technologies
Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to integrate technology solutions that align with curricular goals
Collaborate with the Technology department to integrate new and existing tools and platforms into a broad technical environment, meeting standards for privacy, accessibility, and compliance
Provide ongoing informal and formal training of faculty members on using new and existing technologies for teaching and learning
Identify training and support needs based on faculty feedback, classroom observation, and collaboration with the Director of Technology, Academic Dean, Division Heads, and others
Maintain a strong understanding of institutional learning technology ecosystem (ex: LMS, SIS, assessment, proctoring, collaboration, engagement)
Act as liaison between the Technology department and parents, faculty, and students, and other academic departments
Develop and promote Digital Citizenship efforts across grades and constituencies
Qualifications
3+ years of experience teaching in the classroom at any of the K-12 grade levels
3+ years of experience as a technology integration specialist or similar role (i.e., roles in curriculum/instructional design)
Demonstrated ability to write clear, engaging instructional content for educators
Strong knowledge of content management systems, learning management systems, and related academic technology ecosystems
Proven ability to evaluate and implement emerging tools in online and hybrid learning contexts
Practical AI literacy: hands-on experience using and experimenting with AI tools
Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and with limited supervision
Comfort with iterative development; strong attention to detail and documentation
The salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000, based on experience and degrees earned.
