St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks culturally competent and responsive educators to serve as teachers in our Lower School division. A teaching position within the Lower School could include instructing students at any grade level between Kindergarten and Fourth grade. Position Overview
Lower School Teachers are responsible for designing and implementing developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the School’s mission and divisional philosophy. Teachers collaborate closely with colleagues, communicate effectively with families, and contribute fully to the life of the School community.
Essential Responsibilities
Primarily responsible for classroom activities and for the management, organization, and discipline of the classroom
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with divisional standards and philosophy
Design and deliver engaging, interactive learning experiences
Integrate technology, media, and instructional tools into classroom teaching
Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and effective planning
Evaluate and document students’ academic and social growth and maintain assessment records
Establish and maintain high standards for student behavior and classroom management
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and caregivers
Attend grade-level, departmental, and required School meetings
Attend chapel services and incorporate daily devotion into classroom instruction
Support long-range planning, School philosophy, and goals in collaboration with division leadership
Adhere to all School policies, including safety and emergency procedures
Proficiency with instructional technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, internet tools)
Interest in coaching, advising, or sponsoring student activities is welcomed

Work Schedule & Position Status
The role is a 10-month position that follows the school’s academic calendar. The position is paid over a 12-month period and includes typical daily working hours of Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:45 p.m. during the academic year. The position joins our faculty as a full-time and benefits-eligible employee. The role is salaried and Exempt per FLSA guidelines.
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily performed indoors and may involve standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
