Position Summary
Perkiomen School seeks an Athletic Director to lead a comprehensive interscholastic athletic program that advances the School's mission to inspire students to risk becoming their best. As a member of the Senior Administrative Team, the Athletic Director provides strategic leadership for an athletic program that develops scholar-athletes of character, leadership, resilience, and competitive excellence.
Perkiomen students are scholars who compete. The athletic program includes middle school, junior varsity, varsity, and elite teams that challenge students to pursue excellence while fostering sportsmanship, wellness, teamwork, and personal growth. As the School enters the Friends Schools Athletic League (FSAL) in Fall 2026, the Athletic Director will play a critical role in shaping the future of Perkiomen athletics and elevating the student-athlete experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Program Development
Provide strategic leadership for all athletic programs, coaches, and student-athletes.
Champion a culture that values competitive excellence, sportsmanship, integrity, leadership, and student well-being.
Develop and implement a vision for athletics that aligns with the School's mission and strategic priorities.
Lead the successful integration of Perkiomen School into the Friends Schools Athletic League.
Serve as the head coach of one interscholastic sport.
Personnel Leadership
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate coaches and athletic staff.
Foster a culture of professional growth and continuous improvement among coaches.
Ensure all coaches adhere to School policies, league regulations, and best practices in student-athlete development.
Promote collaboration and communication across athletic programs and departments.
Student-Athlete Development
Support the academic, athletic, and personal success of student-athletes.
Partner with faculty, advisors, residential life staff, and administrators to ensure a holistic student experience.
Encourage leadership development, character education, and healthy habits through athletics.
Serve as a visible and engaged presence at practices, competitions, and campus events.
Develop, manage, and steward the athletic department budget.
Ensure compliance with league, conference, and state athletic association requirements.
Maintain appropriate records and oversee risk management, health, and safety protocols.
Collaborate with campus partners to ensure athletic facilities support student success and program growth.
Community Engagement & Enrollment
Partner with the Admissions Office to support enrollment and recruitment efforts.
Serve as an ambassador for the School with prospective families, alumni, community partners, and athletic organizations.
Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing Office to celebrate athletic achievements and promote the School's athletic programs.
Build strong relationships with college coaches and support student-athletes through the college recruitment process.
Residential Life & School Community
Support the residential program as assigned by the Associate Head of School for Student Life.
Serve as a faculty advisor to a small group of students.
Contribute actively to the life of the School community beyond athletics, embracing the responsibilities and opportunities of a boarding and day school environment.
Independent, coeducational boarding and day school grades 6-12 with boarding in grades 6-12. Located in Greater Philadelphia (Montgomery County) with easy access to the Lehigh Valley and the New York metropolitan area.
