THE POSITION
Hawken School is seeking a Philanthropic Advisor to work with major and principal gifts aspects of Hawken’s fundraising program. This role involves organizing fundraising initiatives, working with School leadership and building relationships with alumni, parents, and friends. The Philanthropic Advisor will also expand and enhance the School’s major and principal giving program.
The Philanthropic Advisor is an integral part of the Advancement team and assists in the ongoing development and implementation of the School’s giving program through the personal cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. This position will assist in expanding Hawken’s relationships with alumni, parents, friends, community leaders, and family foundations. Working closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, the Philanthropic Advisor will personally assist in uncovering and expanding philanthropy and partnering with others internally to create giving plans for individuals, foundations, and corporations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages a donor portfolio of a minimum of 75 prospects, qualifies potential new major and principal gift prospects, and helps discover new prospects for major gift-level support
Develops gift strategies to cultivate and solicit contributions with primary emphasis on encouraging annual giving while introducing new major gift-level opportunities ($25,000 to $1M+ categories) focused on programmatic priorities, and special project needs as directed by the executive leadership
Assists in generating sustainable funding sources
Assists in working with Hawken constituents to establish relationships with the School
Partners with the Advancement team to find new leadership donors
Works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer to identify new prospective donors
Communicates successfully with the division leadership about gifts and donor feedback
Works closely with other members of the team to plan appropriate stewardship for special engagement and recognition opportunities and to foster strong donor relationships
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, and five or more years of experience working in advancement or comparable field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Prior experience in major gift fundraising
Prior successful experience in working with community leaders and corporate and family foundation activities
A collaborator with strong communication, team building, project management, and administrative skills, with attention to detail
