Position Summary
The Bolles School is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Choral Music Teacher to lead and grow a dynamic vocal music program for students in grades 6–12. This position includes teaching and conducting choral ensembles, preparing students for performances, and fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment that supports artistic and personal growth. The ideal candidate is a skilled musician and educator who values relationship-building, creativity, and student-centered learning while contributing actively to the broader life of the school community.
This position will begin with the 2026–2027 academic year and will involve travel between the San Jose Upper School Campus and the Bartram Middle School Campus.
Essential Functions
Teach and conduct middle and upper school choral ensembles • Develop engaging curriculum focused on vocal technique, music literacy, and performance skills • Direct concerts, performances, and special events throughout the school year • Select developmentally appropriate and inclusive choral repertoire • Service as Musical Director for school productions • Support school assemblies and special events as needed • Collaborate with Fine Arts faculty and participate fully in school life • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment • Partner with Admissions to support recruitment and enrollment efforts through performances, events, and community engagement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in music, Music Education, Choral Conducting, or related field required • Experience teaching choral music to middle and/or upper school students preferred • Strong conducting, vocal pedagogy, and classroom management skills • Piano proficiency and ability to support rehearsals musically • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills • Commitment to student growth, artistic excellence, and the mission of The Bolles School
