Position Overview:
Marlborough seeks a creative, technically skilled, and community-minded visual storyteller to join the Communications Office as Photographer/Videographer. This role is responsible for capturing, producing, and curating high-quality photography and video content that brings the Marlborough experience to life across the School’s digital platforms, publications, and institutional communications. Working closely with the entire communications team, this position plays a central role in shaping the School’s visual identity—documenting the full breadth of student life, academic programs, fine arts, performing arts, athletics, traditions, community events, and more with artistry and intention.
Essential Job Functions:
Visual Content Production
Serve as the School’s primary photographer and videographer, capturing photo and video throughout the year across a wide range of events, programs, and campus moments.
Document student life, academics, athletics, arts, special events, and institutional milestones with consistency, quality, and a strong sense of story.
Provide timely photo and video support for time-sensitive communications and social media content, with flexibility to capture campus happenings as they unfold.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Specialist to develop and produce compelling visual content for Instagram, including short-form video and Reels.
Post-Production and Editing
Edit and retouch photos for use across web, social media, print, and email platforms.
Edit video footage from capture through final delivery, including color correction, audio mixing, motion graphics, titles, and export across multiple formats and aspect ratios.
Maintain a consistent visual style and aesthetic aligned with the Marlborough brand.
Asset Management
Maintain a well-organized, searchable, and accessible photo and video library using the School’s digital asset management (DAM) system, Canto.
Regularly review and update the library to ensure content is current, organized, and aligned with institutional needs.
Project Support
Work in close partnership with departments across campus to plan and produce content aligned with communications goals
Assist with visual updates to the School’s website
Support the Communications Office in tracking and managing project deadlines and deliverables
Requirements:
Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university; degree in Photography, Film, Visual Communications, or a related field preferred—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-5 years of professional photography and videography experience, with a portfolio demonstrating range across event, editorial, and brand storytelling contexts. Please submit your portfolio here.
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro
Experience working in education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
Familiarity with digital asset management platforms; experience with Canto preferred.
Working knowledge of Google Suite; familiarity with Finalsite, Asana, and Canva a plus.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, community-oriented approach to working with faculty, staff, students, and families.
Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment in capturing and sharing images of minors and in public-facing communications.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for School events.
