Rectory School has an opening for a full-time Learning Specialist in our middle school (grades 5-9). Applicants must possess a strong knowledge base in the area of learning differences and have developed strategies to support students with ADHD and Executive Functioning needs. In addition to teaching and coaching responsibilities, the successful candidate would also serve as a student advisor. A desire to work with middle school students is essential. Experience with student-centered teaching and having experience working with students with specific learning differences is preferred. Duties and Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one and small-group support/instruction for students (5-9)
Apply a deep knowledge of content, pedagogy, child development, individual students, community, and cultural norms to his/her teaching
Knowledge in creating accommodation and student learning plans that result in maximum student growth; support classroom teachers with implementing interventions and accommodations.
Effectively communicates expectations for learning and behavior with students in a caring, supportive manner.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, admin, and parents.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
Positive attitude, flexible approach, and a sense of humor
School Profile Rectory School was founded in 1920 when the Reverend and Mrs. Frank H. Bigelow sought to create an individualized learning program for their son John.
