Choate Rosemary Hall seeks a full-time English teacher to join our community for a one-year appointment beginning in August 2026. The successful candidate should be comfortable teaching across all four years of the English curriculum, centering student growth in skills of reading, writing, and discussion through the study of a range of diverse authors, voices, and critical perspectives. Candidates should have a strong foundation in writing pedagogy that thoughtfully integrates inclusive and equitable classroom practices into their teaching and course design.
While 3+ years of teaching experience is an advantage, we welcome applications from both experienced educators and those newer to the profession who demonstrate curiosity, potential, and a commitment to professional growth. A master’s degree in English or a related field is preferred.
Priority will be given to candidates who can serve as an assistant coach for one or more of the following varsity sports: ice hockey, girls lacrosse, soccer, squash, track (sprint or distance-focused), wrestling, and/or swimming. Successful teaching and strong engagement in one of the above sport(s) could lead to an ongoing position.
Choate is committed to building and sustaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community where all members feel valued and respected. We actively seek colleagues who bring a variety of backgrounds, identities, and perspectives to our school, and we strongly encourage applications from candidates from historically underrepresented or marginalized groups.
Choate Rosemary Hall is a coeducational, independent secondary school in central Connecticut, serving 850 boarding and day students and employing more than 300 faculty and staff. The School welcomes academically motivated and intellectually curious students from diverse backgrounds around the world and offers a rigorous, supportive learning environment that fosters lifelong habits of learning, leadership, and service. Guided by innovative and passionate educators, Choate strives to be an inclusive community in which all students and employees feel valued and welcomed. On our campus, principled individuals from varied backgrounds are united by common purpose, active engagement, and mutual respect. We honor the richness that difference brings to our community and acknowledge that living inclusively can also present challenges. Through ongoing dialogue and interaction, we embrace those challenges in ways that deepen empathy and build appreciation for perspectives different from our own.
Choate prohibits in all its programs, including hiring and employment practices, discrimination against or harassment of any member or group based upon age, gender, race, color, national origin, anc...estry, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, genetic information, gender identity or expression, veteran status, or any other category protected by Connecticut or federal law, except in the case of a bona fide occupational qualification.
