Position Overview: The primary responsibility of full-time faculty is to support curriculum development and provide instruction in the classroom. Additional duties require that full-time faculty participate in the afternoon program, which for this position will include leading the boys lacrosse program as Varsity Boys Lacrosse Head Coach. This position also requires dorm duty in the residential program. All faculty are expected to understand and promote the mission, standards, and policies of the School.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching Faculty
Provide quality classroom instruction for four classes under the guidance of the appropriate department chair and/or division head (Middle or Upper School).
Constructively participate in departmental/divisional initiatives under the direction of the appropriate department chair or division head, including annual departmental/divisional goals and additional long-term initiatives.
Communicate with students and their parents regarding ongoing performance, building trust and ensuring student growth and learning.
Communicate with appropriate administrators regarding students who are struggling to meet the demands of the school curriculum and coordinate efforts to remediate accordingly.
Support the residential program in the evenings and on weekends as deemed appropriate by the Assistant Head of School for Student Life and the Head of Upper School. Duties will include supervision and driving students to off-campus activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Head Boys Lacrosse Coach
Administer all school policies and procedures as well as those of the NCISAA and CAA.
Select and supervise a competent coaching staff, including JV and Middle School.
Assist Admissions with the recruitment of student-athletes.
Order and inventory all program equipment.
Plan and execute all varsity practices.
Organize off-season workouts for the varsity team.
Build contacts with college coaches at all levels to assist with college placement and coordinate the college recruitment for all lacrosse players in collaboration with the College Counseling department.
Assist the Athletic Director with scheduling for lacrosse.
Maintain a presence on social media accounts throughout the week, running stories about student-athletes, successful programs, and upcoming contests.
Attend conference meetings or state meetings involving lacrosse coaches.
Communicate with students and their parents regarding ongoing performance, building trust, and ensuring student growth and learning.
Communicate with appropriate administrators regarding students who are struggling to meet the demands of the school curriculum and coordinate efforts to remediate accordingly.
Provide direction to the Middle School athletic program under the guidance of the Athletic Director and in cooperation with the Middle School Head.

A bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s or higher degree preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of subjects taught, backed by a love of learning evident in daily practice.
At least 5 years coaching experience in a school setting or athletic organization.
At least two years of experience in the classroom or equivalent experience teaching and/or mentoring young people.
Ability to manage a variety of programs and activities simultaneously and support a spirit of teamwork among individuals pursuing common goals.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing, necessary for active participation in an educational community.
Strong interpersonal skills and an unflappable “solutions-oriented” professionalism.
Ability to project an image of professional competence and credibility in representing Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School.
A strong commitment to the principles of teamwork and shared responsibility for success.
