A DAY IN THE LIFE
Spend every professional day working with our amazing fourth and fifth grade students, parents, and teachers in support of their journey at The Joy School.
Lead a small division (50 - 65 students) where manageable size gives you the time and space to make a real impact.
Assess and advocate for the unique needs of the upper elementary division. Broaden others' perspectives by helping them consider alternative viewpoints.
Speak compassionately with parents and support them through their parenting journey of understanding their child as a unique learner.
Collaborate with smart colleagues to problem-solve on behalf of students, teachers, and parents. Celebrate the successes of teachers, students, and parents as they grow in their self-awareness and sense of self.
Build cohesive teams of parents, teachers, related professionals, and colleagues who will work together to support students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, or special education required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of relative classroom experience.
Clinical Expertise: Extensive understanding learning differences, with the ability to interpret psychoeducational testing and translate it into classroom strategies.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to balance the needs of individuals with the needs of the institution.
Character: Must act with compassion and integrity, maintaining professional boundaries while fostering a warm, "Joy School" community feel.
