Mount Saint Mary Academy is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated individual to serve as the Interim Head Varsity Girls Golf Coach. This temporary leadership role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in golf who can provide stability, structure, and positive leadership to the program during the season. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and a commitment to fostering a competitive and supportive environment for student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of the Varsity Golf program, including practice planning, player development, match preparation, and in-match coaching.
Develop and implement a comprehensive season plan focused on skill development, course management, rules knowledge, and mental preparation.
Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes, emphasizing academics, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal accountability.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture.
Collaborate closely with the Athletic Director, school administration, and any assistant coaches to ensure continuity and success of the program.
Attend and supervise all scheduled practices, matches, tournaments, and team events.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents regarding schedules, expectations, and player progress.
Ensure compliance with all league, district, and state regulations and safety protocols.
Manage team rosters, equipment, uniforms, and coordination with host golf courses.
Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
Strong knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, course management, and competitive strategies.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to motivate and support student-athletes in a short-term leadership role.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and course personnel.
First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and educational athletic experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous competitive playing experience in golf.
Experience managing or supervising assistant coaches.
Familiarity with high school athletic programs and league/state compliance requirements.
Salary:
Competitive stipend based on experience and qualifications
Estimated range $5,000-$7,000
