Day-to-Day Responsibilities
The Math Specialist will provide instruction and support to students within a regular education setting as well as provide faculty support and development.
The Math Specialist will have responsibilities including small group instruction, push-in support, differentiating the curriculum, screening students, and communicating with families.
The Math Specialist will join a student support team that currently includes a Director of Student Success, a learning specialist, a Speech and Language specialist, and a Clinical Psychologist. This role is being added to the lower school team to provide greater support and acceleration in math.
Essential Qualifications
A degree in education, math education, or a related field (B.A. required; Masters preferred)
Expertise and experience with the Singapore Math, especially the Math in Focus curriculum
Ability to scaffold and differentiate instruction- special education training also a plus.
A personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Successful experience differentiating instruction with elementary-aged students in small groups and 1:1
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The ability to be highly collaborative as a member of the Student Success Team.
The ability to strategically use formative and summative data to communicate both student readiness and inform differentiated instruction
Proactive communication in order to keep teachers and families updated on student progress, including attending family-teacher conferences and offering professional resources
Demonstrated commitment to the academic, social, and emotional well-being of every child, every day
Adept at integrating newer technologies to enrich teaching, learning, and assessment
Preferred Qualifications
Experienced homeroom / special education teachers who have a passion for math and are ready for a new challenge are encouraged to apply.
Experience in training teachers
Knowledge of IEPs, 504s, accommodations, and modifications
While teaching experience is required, that experience need not be in independent schools. Teachers who have worked in public/charter schools are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
This is a full-time position with a benefits and compensation package that is competitive for the region. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $85,000.
