As a full-time Lower School STEM Specialist at Sage, you will guide students through a dynamic learning experience that combines hands-on inquiry, design-based projects, small-group instruction, and project-based learning opportunities. Primarily working with students in early childhood through grade 4, this role may also involve teaching mathematics and science with developmental-age-appropriate students in grades 5 and 6, depending on program needs. You will teach early childhood and lower school computer science as well as lower school mathematics, including concepts leading up to pre-algebra. Students explore the interconnectedness of the natural, technological, and mathematical worlds, developing critical thinking skills and a nuanced perspective on how systems, patterns, and processes are related. By investigating topics such as mathematics, scientific inquiry, engineering design, and computational thinking, students engage in meaningful problem-solving, creativity, and real-world application. Beyond content knowledge, you will foster students’ independence, curiosity, and ownership of their learning, providing opportunities for joyful exploration and a love of STEM. Sage’s interdisciplinary STEM program ensures that science, mathematics, engineering, and computer science remain relevant, up-to-date, and closely integrated with other subjects, including the humanities. Students are empowered to pursue their unique interests and passions, cultivating a deeper understanding of the interconnected disciplines of STEM.
While your primary teaching responsibilities will originate in the Lower School, you are an essential member of the broader STEM team.
