Position Summary:

The Adelson School seeks a strong, mission-aligned Director of Preschool to lead our Early Childhood division (ages 18 months through Junior Kindergarten).

• This position reports directly to the Head of Lower School and serves as a key instructional and operational leader. The Director will work in close partnership with the Head of Lower School to ensure coherence, clarity, and excellence throughout the Preschool program.

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Preschool will:

• Oversee curriculum coherence across ages 18 months–JK.
• Ensure developmentally appropriate, skill-based instruction.
• Strengthen classroom culture and behavioral expectations.
• Supervise, coach, and evaluate Preschool faculty.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, licensing compliance, and program integrity.
• Partner with the Head of Lower School to guide program vision and implementation.
• Maintain strong, clear communication with families.
• Uphold and model Jewish values throughout the division.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring presence, decisiveness, and alignment with school-wide standards.

Qualifications:

• Deep knowledge of early childhood development (ages 2–5)
• Strong understanding of structured early literacy development
• Experience building language-rich, academically purposeful classrooms
• High expectations for student behavior and classroom management
• Organizational strength and operational clarity
• Demonstrated commitment to Jewish life, values, and education
• BS in Early Childhood required, MS preferred
• Minimum of five years supervisory experience in an early childhood setting, required
• Experience in a Jewish day school or an independent school is preferred

Early Childhood sets the tone for a child’s entire Adelson education. The Director will ensure that our youngest students develop strong habits, confident language skills, independence, and a love of learning within a structured and joyful environment.

We seek a leader who understands that joyful classrooms and strong foundations go hand in hand - and that strong foundations begin early.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and stretching.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
• Capable of responding quickly to emergencies.
• Sharp vision and hearing to monitor children and communicate with staff and parents.
