Job Description:
The Elementary II Guide co-teaches in one of two Elementary II (grades 4 – 6) classrooms; together the guides in the program have general responsibility for teaching Montessori Elementary II Levels in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies (the following subjects are covered by specialists outside of the classroom: Art, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish). Collaboration with the subject specialists as well as the other classroom teachers is expected. The Elementary II guides will create a positive learning environment, and communicate well and frequently about classroom dynamics with colleagues and administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the other Elementary II guides, design and implement curricular plan for the year for the Elementary II students
Attend full faculty/staff and committee meetings
Perform other duties as discussed with the Head of School, those being primarily to teach the Montessori curriculum, supervise, and care for the students
Work in partnership with parents, advocate and promote the school
Work collegially with administration and fellow Montessorians, and grow
Support the mission and philosophy of the School and to perform the duties in a professional manner and in compliance with any rules, regulations, and requirements established by the School, as set forth in the Faculty Handbook.
