COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary range is $76,900-$143,930 and is based on education and years of teaching experience. POSITION SUMMARY:
Pinewood School is seeking a full-time, 2nd-grade Math and History teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The individual in this role is a professional educator who is passionate about teaching and meeting the needs of 2nd-grade students within a rich and challenging math and history curriculum.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Planning and Delivery:
Teach Math and History to 2nd-grade students in accordance with Pinewood’s curriculum standards and objectives.
Work with the 2nd-grade team of teachers within a departmentalized school setting.
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school's curriculum program.
Prepare and deliver differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles.
Assess student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, school policies, and administrative regulations.
Use technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
Classroom Management:
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Professional Development:
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Attend regular monthly faculty, grade level, and academic meetings.
Stay informed about changes and innovations in the field of education.
Communication:
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning both the broad academic program and individual student progress.
Conduct conferences with parents, students, and other educators to discuss student progress as needed.
Use technology effectively to communicate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to spend long hours sitting while using computers and office equipment.
Visual and auditory acuity to monitor student activities and ensure safety.
Ability to carry or lift up to 20 lbs. (e.g. classroom materials).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Math, History or a related field is required. Master’s degree and/or a teaching credential is desired.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in classroom teaching.
Experience teaching a lower elementary math and/or history class is desired.
Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Strong interpersonal skills.
