TMI invites applications for a full-time position as Upper School History Instructor. The role begins in August, 2026 and will consist of the following duties:
· Teach4 sections of on-level United States History and 1 section of United States Government.
· Serve as an advisor to a small group of students.
· Fulfill additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
· Actively participate in and contribute to extracurricular activities, including athletics, residential life, or club programs.

· Is experienced in incorporating primary sources, diverse perspectives, and contemporary historiography into classroom instruction.
· Provides students with effective, timely, individual feedback on assessments and works with students to achieve their potential.
· Supports the following History Department long-term transfer goals that students will:
1. Develop critical thinking skills through analysis of historical evidence and interpretation of multiple perspectives.
2. Master historical thinking practices including chronological reasoning, comparison, contextualization, and historical argumentation.
3. Connect historical events and themes to contemporary issues and develop informed perspectives on current events.
4. Build research and writing skills necessary for success in college-level history courses and beyond.
Founded in 1893, TMI Episcopal (TMI) is the flagship private school of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. TMI recently opened the Walker Innovation Center. The Walker Innovation Center is an 8,000 square foot space that includes a fab-lab maker space, idea labs, a dedicated robotics room, AR/VR lab and a sound and broadcasting space. The Walker Innovation Center is under the direction of our Dean of Innovation and is available to all faculty... to use for stand-alone projects or to facilitate the ongoing integration of Design Thinking and project based learning in an effort to instill in our students the benefits of real-world problem solving.
