Harbor Day School, an independent K-8 school in Corona del Mar, California, is seeking a long-term substitute for a Third Grade lead teaching position. The position will begin August 17, 2026, and continue into the fall of the 2026-2027 academic year. Third Grade at Harbor Day emphasizes a rigorous, supportive curriculum that prepares students to become independent learners. Candidates must demonstrate a strong knowledge of elementary-level language arts, math, and social studies. The ideal candidate will have experience with the Reading and Writing Workshop model and Singapore Math. Additionally, the candidate must be able to create a connected, caring, and highly engaging classroom environment that fosters students' academic, social, and emotional growth while collaborating effectively with grade-level partners and the broader faculty.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Implement daily lesson plans that align with school standards and the existing third-grade scope and sequence.

Evaluate student performance through observation, performance-based tasks, and formal assessments.

Maintain strong communication with parents to foster a supportive and professional home-school connection.

Manage classroom dynamics to ensure a safe, inclusive, and highly productive learning environment.

Perform supervisory duties, including lunch and recess supervision.
