3rd/4th Grade Classroom Teacher
Santa Fe School for the Arts & Sciences, an expeditionary learning school, is seeking a full-time innovative, dynamic, collaborative teacher for our combined 3rd/4th grade classroom with a strong background in teaching elementary school, for the 2026-27 school year. We are especially interested in candidates who are mindful and enthusiastic about cross-disciplinary connections and have experience creating learning expeditions and/or thematic units of study.
The successful candidate will understand the developmental needs of these amazing 8-10 year-olds. They will model and promote the school’s character traits of compassion, courage, respect, trust, honesty and stewardship. Our school upholds the values of diversity and inclusivity. The candidate will be able to create a safe and nurturing learning environment in which all students are respected. Additionally, the candidate must be flexible and an excellent communicator and collaborator. A deep understanding of elementary school pedagogy and a commitment to the academic and social/emotional growth of students is essential.

Qualifications and Attributes
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Elementary Education, or related field
Experience working with elementary-aged students as a lead teacher or in related subject area
Understanding of learning styles and differentiated instruction
Ability to design hands-on, experiential learning activities that advance learning and present real-life opportunities
Ability to work with technology to support, supplement and enhance teaching and learning
Affinity and enthusiasm for working with this age group
Excellent communication skills
Capacity to inspire others
Strong work ethic
Willingness to learn and improve professionally
Sound judgment and emotional maturity
Ability to collaborate and work with a team
Willingness to engage in the Arts & Sciences community
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teacher all 3rd/4th grade curriculum (except for daily Specials)
Create, maintain and promote a safe, nurturing learning environment that responds to students’ academic, social, and emotional growth
Maintain and communicate high academic and personal expectations for all students
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
Incorporate direct instruction, discussion, projects, and cooperative work to engage all students, keep classes focused, and infuse a lasting desire to learn
Develop and maintain student portfolios in accordance with school standards and philosophy
Develop and use a variety of assessments that measure progress toward academic goals
Utilize and evolve current curriculum and develop activities that are aligned with the school’s academic standards, mission, and vision
Communicate effectively, clearly, and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues
Plan and initiate fieldwork and extracurricular activities
Attend staff and divisional meetings, workshops and conferences
Professional Development
Teachers at Arts & Sciences develop a culture where professional development is expected and embedded in the daily fabric of our school. Professional development includes large group presentations, grade level or team meetings, workshops, peer observations, team teaching, and offsite institutes and workshops.
