Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks candidates for the position of Learning Support Department Head, Grades K-12. The start date for this position is September 1, 2026.
The Learning Support Department Head position has four primary focal points:
overseeing the processes and procedures associated with the smooth operation of the K-12 learning support system;
developing new, divisionally-appropriate models for the best possible delivery of academic support;
the thoughtful establishment of clear philosophies and practices in response to the myriad learning support challenges at Trinity School; and
working directly with students and with teachers.
The Department Head will support and evaluate the learning support staff in each division; partner with the two Admissions offices (K-4 and 5-12); work with each division’s student support team to develop, implement, and revise the instructional support and accommodations provided to students; act as a resource for parents in supporting their children’s learning needs; guide the school’s efforts to develop teachers’ capacity to work effectively with students with learning differences; ensure the oversight of psychoeducational evaluations, extended time, and other institutionally-approved accommodations; and work to build a stronger sense of departmental cohesion and cooperation.
The school’s current full-time learning support staff includes three Lower School learning specialists, three Middle School learning specialists, three Upper School learning specialists, and an Administrative Coordinator. This position will report to the Assistant Head of School.
The successful candidate will be a skilled, experienced learning specialist who holds a Master’s degree in learning disabilities, special education, or related fields and who has experience developing and directing learning support programs and staff. As one of the primary spokespersons and advocates for learning support efforts at Trinity, this individual should be an effective communicator with various groups of various sizes, whether discussing an individual learner’s needs or articulating the learning support program’s policies, procedures, processes, and philosophy.
An Equal Opportunity Employer, Trinity School seeks candidates who will add to the diversity of our school community.
Trinity School is a college preparatory, coeducational independent day school for Grades K-12, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Founded as a charity school at Trinity Church in 1709 for 40 students, it moved to its current location in 1895 and now has an average enrollment of 1,000. Trinity is no longer sponsored by a specific religious body, and the Trinity community is characterized by religious, racial, and ethnic diversity. Since its founding, Trinity has continued its commitment to enroll a talented, motivated, and diverse student body from every economic and social background by providing over $4.5 million in financial aid to students at all grades. The school is organized into a Lower School (K-Grade 4), a Middle School (Grades 5-8) and an Upper School (Grades 9-12). The ratio of students to teachers is six to one. The faculty members of the school, with over 20 doctorates and 96 master's degrees from selective colleges and universities around the world, are extraordinarily talented and dedicated. Conversation between students and teachers is the essence of the Trinity education.
Trinity School is not seeking assistance or accepting unsolicited resumes from se...arch firms without a formal request from the school to provide such assistance. Without such a request from the Head of School's office, any resumes submitted by search firms to any employee at Trinity School will be deemed the sole property of Trinity School, and no fee will be paid in the event the candidate is hired by Trinity School.
An Equal Opportunity Employer, Trinity School seeks candidates who will add to the diversity of our school community. More than this, Trinity School is expressly committed to deepening its anti-racism practices and calls on all community members to engage in this work.
