Job Summary The Associate/Assistant Director of Admissions, reporting to the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid is an integral part of the admissions team, enabling The Spence School to fulfill the mission and goals for the School established by the Head of School and Trustees. This position may be filled at the Assistant or Associate Director level based on experience and qualifications. The individual in this role is part of a team that welcomes, informs and guides prospective families through the admissions and enrollment process. The successful candidate is a collaborative professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings a solutions-oriented mindset to both routine and unexpected challenges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as a key member of a dynamic and high-performing admissions team, ensuring seamless collaboration, operational excellence and a positive team culture.
Communicates the distinctive value of a Spence education in nuanced, compelling and mission-aligned ways to prospective families and community partners.
Guides and supports all prospective families throughout the full admissions cycle from interest to enrollment, ensuring a personalized, responsive and welcoming experience.
Conducts admissions interviews, leads tours and evaluates applicant files holistically and contributes thoughtfully to admissions decision-making. Associate-level candidates may assume increased responsibility in committee leadership and file oversight.
Contributes to admissions data analysis to inform enrollment strategy.
Supports and leads planning, coordinating and executing admissions events including playgroups, assessments, open houses, spring tours and fairs.
Builds and sustains strong, trust-based relationships with feeder schools and community partners through proactive outreach, thoughtful communication and professional collaboration.
Salary range - $80,000 - $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and level of responsibility.
Qualifications
Holds a Baccalaureate degree
Possesses 3+ years of professional experience in admissions or education-related roles.
Effective in collaborative and self-directed work environments.
Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace and the ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and optimize new admissions and school software platforms systems.
Brings a strong facility with data and comfort working with numbers.
Communicates effectively through strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Manages multiples priorities and complex tasks with precision, discretion and strong organizational and technological acumen.
Shows initiative, sound judgement, is resourceful and adaptable.
Maintains a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
Upholds strict confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
