St. Andrew’s Episcopal School seeks to hire an innovative, nurturing, and knowledgeable Upper School (US) Orchestra Director (grades 9-12) with responsibilities to begin in August 2026. At St. Andrews, we believe in the importance of multi-contextual relationships as foundations for learning. Beyond relevant credentials and experience, compelling candidates should work effectively with high school age students, demonstrate a creative and engaging instructional style, and value the whole student's development. All teachers at St. Andrew’s are responsible for advancing the school’s mission and its commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES • Teach Honors Orchestra, providing ensemble-based instruction. • Lead performances throughout the year, including the ISAS Fine Arts Festival and collaborative Upper and Middle School concerts. • Oversee instrument inventory and maintenance. • Coordinate music and supply orders within budget guidelines. • Support student participation in TPSMEA/TMEA solo, ensemble, and honors auditions. • Participate in departmental meetings and ongoing program planning.

ANDREW’S EPISCOPAL SCHOOL FACULTY MEMBERS • Uphold the mission and Episcopal Identity of the school • Act as an advisor for 8-10 students daily - provide academic support, social emotional development, & facilitate DEIB discussions • Attend daily chapel with their advisory • Understand that they are more than just a classroom teacher & approach situations with a “student-first” mindset • Prioritize student relationships & foster a safe and predictable environment • Attend weekly meetings to facilitate growth & learning: full faculty, divisional, team-level, departmental and others as needed. • Utilize professional development opportunities to continue growth in their craft • Strive to connect & collaborate with other disciplines • Are team players & open to serving the community in other ways that arise throughout a school year

QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in music education, music performance, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred. • Demonstrated passion for teaching music and working with high school students. • Ability to instruct students across a range of skill levels, with clear evidence of differentiated instruction. • Strong knowledge of appropriate ensemble and solo repertoire. • Commitment to planning and facilitating collaborative, student-centered learning experiences, including culturally responsive teaching practices. • Proficient in computer applications, including Google Workspace.
