ABOUT US Rodeph Sholom School, a Reform Jewish Day School based on the Upper West Side, fosters intellectual curiosity through a challenging independent school academic program in nursery school through 8th Grade. ABOUT YOU The ideal candidate will have experience teaching middle school history and English, designing history and English curriculum, and have successful experience working with middle school aged children and their families. They should be adaptable, collaborative, proactive, personable, and warm.
WORK SCHEDULE Working hours are generally 7:40 AM to 3:45 PM; additional hours may be required in the evenings. Teachers are expected to attend faculty meetings on Thursdays from 3:45 PM until 5:00 PM.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach English and History to middle school students
Work collaboratively with the Humanities department and other teaching teams on initiatives around pedagogy and curriculum
Serve as a Middle School advisor
Additional responsibilities, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrates expertise in the craft of teaching, along with a passion for and knowledge of 5-8th grade English and history
Possesses a strong capacity for advising students in middle school
Has excellent interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Possesses a kind demeanor and a healthy sense of humor
Supports the mission, vision, values, and commitments as outlined on our “About” website page
Is flexible and able to take initiative and follow through on projects
Possesses good judgment
Advanced degree or equivalent experience
SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary range: $60,000-$90,000; commensurate with experience. *Base faculty salaries do not reflect additional compensation based on degree level and stipends.
