Roland Park Country School is seeking a full-time reduced (80%) Middle/Upper School Chinese Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The Middle/Upper School Chinese Teacher reports to the Head of Middle School and is responsible for planning and implementing instruction for 4 sections of Chinese. Our cross-divisional curriculum is sequentially coherent, developmentally appropriate. Teachers strive to actively engage students in language learning in order to master skills and content as well as build understanding and acceptance of world cultures and differences in values and ways of life. A key goal is communication, and grammar and vocabulary are taught through context. In addition, we make use of authentic and unabridged materials in our curricula. Roland Park Country School’s World Languages Department is a collaborative group of colleagues and teamwork permeates the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach four sections of Chinese at the middle school and high school levels
Collaborate with World Language Department colleagues
WORK CONDITIONS:
The Middle/Upper School Chinese Teacher is a full-time reduced (80%), 10 month exempt position.
The individual in this position is expected to work during all hours as may be assigned by the School and during other hours for events and activities.
The Middle/Upper School Chinese Teacher is expected to perform their job duties on campus unless otherwise permitted by the Head of School.
BACKGROUND CHECK:
A background check (including criminal records and employment history review) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can begin work with RPCS. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status or start of employment.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional travel may be required for field trips and other program-related activities
COMPENSATION DISCLOSURE: In accordance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we are committed to providing transparent wage information for all posted job opportunities. The salary range for this position is $43,200 - $70,000 annually. Compensation is determined based on factors such as Experience, Qualifications, and Internal equity.

Core Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Chinese
Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Demonstrated ability to integrate technology in content delivery
Experience with student-centered teaching pedagogies that put students at the center of their learning
Familiarity with giving and receiving feedback for professional growth
Flexibility and openness to collaboration and experimentation
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
A commitment to culturally competent, student-centered teaching
Flexibility and/or desire to teach other courses
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to ascend/descend stairs in a school building.
Requires ability to turn, sit, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crawl, stoop, push, pull, walk around campus, and stand for prolonged periods.
Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and regularly work indoors or outdoors.
