Hilton Head Preparatory School (HHP) has the following head coaching position available for the 2026-27 school year.

HHP is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Head Coach/Program Director for Varsity Girls Basketball. Candidate should demonstrate a positive attitude and eagerness to maintain a competitive, disciplined, and organized program, while also developing a structured plan for progression and growth from middle school through varsity competition. The new head coach should embrace the understanding of the importance and role of athletics within the school as a co-curricular activity that helps to develop the whole child.

Coaching Responsibilities: 

• Serve as the Program Director of Girls Basketball overseeing the development, promotion, and growth of the program (Grades 6-12) in conjunction with the mission of HHP
• Serve as Head Coach for Varsity Girls Basketball establishing philosophy, style of play, terminology, and expectations; serve as a leader of young ladies and coaches in building relationships, while being a role model for those in your program
• Report to and work closely with the Director of Athletics
• Abide by the rules and regulations established by HHP – we are a member of the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA)
• Be encouraging while training and coaching the participants in your program
• Work collegially with fellow coaches and Athletic department staff
• Instruct players in the rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport
• Implement sound strategies to build competitive teams
• Role models good sportsmanship, and maintains appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, and spectators
• Schedule and organize effective practice sessions
• Schedule games in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Scheduling Coordinator/Associate AD
• Coordinate summer coaching/playing opportunities and camp selection with players (and families), when applicable
• Generate additional support of the program through building connections with lower school students and families
• May coach one additional sport, varsity or middle school level as assistant or head coach

Qualifications:

• Must possess at minimum a bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success as a head coach at the JV or varsity high school level, or assistant coach at the collegiate level, or above
• Previous strong leadership experience preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with coaching staff, faculty, and administrative team members
• Utilize excellent communication skills with players, parents, and the athletic department
• Exhibit great attention to detail in communication, preparation, and organization
• Have a strong commitment to the multi-sport student-athlete concept
• CPR certification training is required
• Complete all required SCISA paperwork
• Be able to drive a 14-passenger minibus
• Pass a background check

Stipend Position:  Commensurate with Experience
