Oldfields School in Sparks Glencoe, Maryland, is an international all-girls boarding and day school, for students in grades 8-12. We are seeking a full-time, experienced Nurse/Health Center Coordinator to begin in August 2026. The Nurse/Health Center Coordinator is responsible for leading and managing the School’s Health Center, providing comprehensive, student-centered healthcare to both boarding and day students while promoting a safe, healthy, and nurturing residential and academic environment.
The Nurse/Health Center Coordinator serves as the primary healthcare provider on campus, overseeing daily clinical operations, managing student health records, collaborating with families and faculty/staff, and promoting wellness education tailored to the unique developmental needs of teenage girls. Residential housing and board may be provided for this position
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care for acute illnesses, minor injuries, and ongoing health concerns during the school day and designated on-call hours during the the 10-month school year
Administer medications and treatments in compliance with physician orders and school policies
Oversee CMTs training and post training management of medication administration
Manage chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, severe allergies) and develop individualized care plans
Coordinate off-campus medical appointments and emergency care as needed
Maintain confidential and accurate student health records in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines
Oversee daily operations of the Health Center
Maintain medical supplies, equipment, and inventory
Ensure compliance with state health regulations and school policies
Manage health forms, immunization records, and required documentation using Magnus
Develop and update health policies and emergency response protocols
Serve as liaison between families, healthcare providers, and school administration
Collaborate with Residential Life staff to support the health and well-being of boarding students
Read student admission files throughout the year and over the summer as needed
Support students experiencing homesickness, stress, sleep concerns, and other residential health issues
Educate boarding staff on health protocols and emergency procedures
Promote health education initiatives appropriate for adolescent girls, including but not limited to:
General health and reproductive wellness
Nutrition and body image
Stress management and mental health awareness
Sleep hygiene and healthy habits
Coordinate vaccination compliance and health screenings.
Develop wellness programming in collaboration with school counselors and athletics staff.
Respond to medical emergencies on campus
Maintain emergency response plans and first aid preparedness
Provide training for faculty and staff in CPR, first aid, and emergency health procedures
Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific requirements apply)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
School nursing experience or experience working with adolescents strongly preferred
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Experience in a residential or boarding school setting is preferred
Ability to live on campus and be a visible and engaged presence in the life of the school
Knowledge of adolescent health, particularly issues affecting teenage girls
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust with students and families
Comfort working independently while collaborating closely with school leadership
Have a warm, approachable, and compassionate presence
Foster a supportive environment for girls’ growth and leadership.
Demonstrate cultural competence and ability to work with diverse families.
Demonstrate calm and confident decision-making in emergency situations.
Be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic school environment.
