ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have successful experience working with elementary aged children and their families. They should be adaptable, collaborative, proactive, personable and warm.
WORK SCHEDULE
Working hours are generally 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM; occasional hours may be required in the evenings. Teachers are expected to attend faculty meetings on Thursdays from 3:45 PM until 5:00 PM.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Elementary Head Teachers are responsible for the students’ education and safety in the classroom. While there are broad guidelines for curriculum, given the ages and developmental levels of the students, teachers are given significant latitude to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of their particular students.
The duties of a Head Classroom teacher include:
Planning and preparing lessons
Evaluating student progress and writing and sending out written progress reports for each student
Mentoring the Associate Teacher
Preparing and leading parent-teacher conferences twice a year and communicating with families on a regular basis
Supervising and interacting with students during lunch and recess
Arriving on time to set up the classroom and staying after the school day to clean the classroom and work on planning for the next day.
Working with the rest of the grade level team to share ideas and resources to promote consistency within the program.
Participating in all aspects of school life, including attending team and staff meetings and community events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Has experience and enjoys working with elementary aged children
Supports the mission, vision, values and commitments as outlined on our “About” website page
Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills and a commitment to equity and social justice
Has excellent interpersonal skills, is flexible and able to take initiative and follow through on projects
SALARY & BENEFITS
*Salary range: $60,000-$90,000; commensurate with experience. *Base faculty salaries do not reflect additional compensation based on degree level and stipends.
