Garrison Forest School seeks a creative professional to join an energetic and busy Communications and Marketing team. The successful candidate will enthusiastically embrace GFS’s mission, Core Values, and community, and work to tell a compelling story about the school.
The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing and assists with content curation, developing marketing and editorial content to be used in the school’s many marketing outlets. This role is primarily responsible for developing and executing a strategy for the school’s social media accounts, as well as developing compelling website content and creating digital ad campaigns.
This position will identify opportunities to tell and amplify the GFS story through social media, news posts, our website, and other outlets. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, be a strong writer, and have experience working in social media, content development, and/or brand development in a professional setting. The Communications and Marketing team collaborates with many different offices, including all academic divisions, Admission, Advancement, Athletics, Summer and External Programs and Residential Life, so the candidate should be detail-oriented and able to manage several projects simultaneously. They must also be able to turn projects around quickly, exercise good judgment, and suggest creative solutions. A key component of this role will be relationship building with faculty and staff, students, parents, and alumnae, and being actively involved in the life of the school, as well as maintaining relationships with external vendors like photographers, videographers, and school partners. Comfort and experience working with people from different backgrounds and experiences is essential.
This is a twelve-month position that requires work on some evenings and weekends. The annual salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 based on years of experience and education level; the exact compensation will be discussed during the hiring process.
Qualities sought: . Proven social media management experience in a professional setting (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) . Proven writing and content development skills . Some experience with photography, video production, and design software such as Canva or Photoshop . Proactive, resourceful and creative problem solver . Ability to be flexible and act quickly while demonstrating sound judgment . Basic understanding of social media analytics . Emotional intelligence . Enthusiastic member of the broader school community
Essential job functions: . Develop and execute the school’s social media strategy . Curate content for social media, the website, news posts, the website, brochures, and other materials . Assist with overall website management and updates . Assist with production of the annual alumnae magazine, including serving as Class News editor . Assist with video conception, production, and editing . Assist with development of marketing materials for Admission and other offices . Maintain the school archive of news items and digital images for use online, in print and on campus . Provide support and coverage, including photography, of campus events . Contribute to and commit to diversity and multicultural educational practices; demonstrated ability working in a diverse community is essential
Qualifications: . Bachelor’s degree required . Experience with social media management in a professional setting required . Experience with basic photography, video and website editing preferred
