Position Summary:
Virginia Episcopal School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Track Coach for the 2026 spring season to help cultivate a competitive and character-driven track program. This role may also include teaching responsibilities, involvement in residential life, and active participation in the broader boarding school community. The ideal candidate will serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, uphold the mission and values of the school, and contribute to building an inclusive team culture rooted in the school's guiding principle of "Toward Full Stature."
Primary Responsibilities:
Coaching
Assist the Head Coach with daily training sessions, meet preparation, and athlete development across track and field disciplines.
Support technical instruction, event-specific training, and competition readiness with an emphasis on long-term development and college placement.
Mentor student-athletes in goal setting, leadership, accountability, and sportsmanship.
Assist with meet supervision, travel coordination, equipment management, and scheduling.
Support recruiting and college-placement efforts in collaboration with the Admissions and College Counseling Offices.
Promote the values and high standards of Virginia Episcopal School in all aspects of the program.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Previous coaching or competitive playing experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level strongly preferred.
Understanding of the high school and college tennis landscape and recruitment process is a plus.
Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with student-athletes in a demanding academic environment.
Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and development-focused team culture.
Availability for afternoon practices, matches, and occasional weekends.
Compensation and Benefits
Part-time or seasonal appointment aligned with the tennis season.
Stipend commensurate with experience.
