Job Summary: The English Teacher is responsible for teaching 4–5 sections of their subject area in the Upper School and serving as an advisor to a small group of students. This role includes planning and delivering instruction, supporting the mission and values of the School, and participating fully in departmental, divisional, and school-wide responsibilities. The teacher is expected to provide academic and personal support for students, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to the overall life of the Upper School. In addition, the teacher is expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, maintain a growth-oriented approach to professional practice, and uphold the School’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of their work.
Primary Responsibilities:
Actively support the Mission of the School and put that vision into daily practice.
Teach 4-5 sections of English which meet for four fifty-minute periods per week
Attend weekly departmental and/or divisional meetings after school.
Serve as an advisor to a small group (usually around ten) of Upper School students
Participate in activities as required
Provide extra help for students as necessary
Perform other duties as assigned, such as lunch supervision, etc.

Requirements/Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred), with a strong emphasis on degrees in related fields.
At least three years of teaching experience, with a strong background in Middle and/or Upper School instruction.
Personal and professional alignment to the school’s mission, vision, and values.
Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and anti-bias education in all aspects of the work with Upper School students, families, and colleagues.
Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills
Leadership of after-school activities (in athletics, the arts, or other programs).
Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit - sometimes for prolonged periods, stand, walk, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time, 10 month teaching position
Professional days are considered work days and participation in planned activities is mandatory
Standard working hours are 8 am to 4 pm with attendance at weekly division/department meetings required. These meetings may go as late as 5 pm
Salaries are based on years of experience and education level. The salary range for this position based on the requirements stated above is 68K to 100K. If you are invited for an initial screening we will let you know where your salary falls on our scale.
