Position Summary
The Director of Financial Aid holds a dual-impact role, functioning as a key stakeholder in the admissions process and the primary administrator of the school's $5M financial aid budget. Responsibilities include the equitable distribution of aid to more than half of the Tilton student body (returning and new students), navigating complex financial profiles, open communication with parents and guardians, and collaborating with the Admission Team to recruit a mission-aligned student body.
The Director of Financial Aid is a full-time, exempt, full-benefits, 12-month administrative faculty position. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and include year-round, school-provided housing. Professional development funding is available, and participation in professional conferences, workshops, and summer study will be encouraged.
The ideal candidate will have Financial Aid and Admission experience, Net Tuition Revenue Modeling experience, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, as well as quantitative/analytical skills. The ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism throughout the financial aid process is of paramount importance.
Key Responsibilities
Reports To: Director of Admissions
Manage Tilton's financial aid budget.
Use and maintain the Clarity platform to review confidential financial aid documents.
Lead the financial aid committee to determine financial aid awards.
Audit and maintain all financial aid communication including the school website, Clarity platform, published financial aid guidelines, and general financial aid correspondence with families (new and returning).
Collaborate with Tilton leadership to identify students and support stewardship of the endowed scholarships program.
Interview prospective students, represent the school at events on and off campus, evaluate candidates, and contribute to the Admissions Committee.
Attend school fairs, visit feeder schools, and attend other admission events.
Maintain financial aid dashboards that provide actionable insights and decision-making processes.
Stay abreast of current financial aid trends and statistics.
Model the highest ethical behavior and standards in executing all aspects of the role of Director of Financial Aid and the responsibilities it includes.
Commit to professional development and maintain a presence for Tilton at industry events and professional conferences.
Carry out afternoon and/or residential life responsibilities as agreed upon.

Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Preferred: Experience in admissions and financial aid in independent schools (boarding school preferred) or higher education; demonstrated success in data-driven decision making, communication with parents, and team leadership.
