Position Description
We seek an inspiring and energized third or fourth grade teacher who can contribute the following to our spirited community:?
Cultivating curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning across academic subjects
Designing engaging lessons that encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and reflection
Supporting students in developing strong literacy, mathematical reasoning, and communication skills
Creating a classroom culture where students feel safe taking risks, asking questions, and sharing ideas
Building a community grounded in belonging, respect, and responsibility
Collaborating closely with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and student growth
Reflecting on practice and engaging in ongoing professional growth
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a homeroom teacher for students in third or fourth grade, providing developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Wellington’s curriculum and values
Teach core subjects including literacy, mathematics, and social studies
Design and facilitate hands-on, inquiry-driven learning experiences that deepen understanding and engagement
Establish classroom routines and structures that promote independence, organization, and a strong work ethic
Differentiate instruction to support and challenge a range of learners through flexible grouping and responsive teaching
Assess student learning through observation, discussion, projects, and other authentic measures
Partner with specialists and support teachers to ensure each child’s academic and social-emotional growth
Communicate clearly and thoughtfully with students and families about learning goals, progress, and classroom experiences
Participate fully in school life, including community events, experiential learning opportunities, and duties
Engage in professional learning aligned with the mission and instructional practices of the school
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or a related field; advanced degree preferred
Experience teaching upper elementary students
Strong understanding of child development and the academic and social-emotional needs of this age group
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet a range of learners with appropriate challenge and support
Classroom management grounded in warmth, structure, and clear expectations
Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to:
Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment
Design meaningful learning experiences across subject areas
Assess and document student learning using varied approaches
Build strong relationships with students and families
Contribute to the life of the school beyond the classroom
