We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Math Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. At Seven Hills, we believe all our students, with the right teaching and messages, are capable of doing mathematics and being mathematicians. We strive to create an environment in which our students are not afraid to make mistakes in mathematics. When faced with novel questions, we encourage our students to sit with that uncomfortable feeling of not knowing the right answer. The Middle School Math Teacher will join a team of three math teachers and will be charged with instilling those values in students, creating engaging lessons, and inspiring a love for mathematical thinking. The position includes four sections of math in grades 6-8, the following responsibilities, and additional duties as assigned:
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver a comprehensive and challenging math curriculum that aligns with the school’s educational philosophy.
Create innovative lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
Implement various teaching methods, technology, and hands-on activities to enhance the learning experience.
Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
Establish and maintain a well-organized and positive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
Collaborate with parents and guardians to keep them informed about student progress and engage them in their child's education.
Collaborate regularly with colleagues when designing the overall math program.
Provide a hands-on model of teaching and manage collaborative learning groups.
Attend regular staff meetings, participate in grade-level team meetings, and take part in ongoing professional development.
Participate in school and community events to promote math education and the school's mission.
Advise a group of 8-10 students to monitor their progress over time, and communicate with their families about their progress.
Teach elective classes, which meet twice a week, on topics of interest to the teacher or the students (e.g. watercolor painting, origami, soccer, math puzzles, etc.)
Chaperone domestic and/or international overnight trips.
Application Process:
Interested candidates should fill out this application form. Questions should be directed to Victor Llanque, Assistant Head of School for Middle School, at vllanquezonta@sevenhillsschool.org.
The application deadline is March 31, 2026. After that date, we will continue to consider applications on a rolling basis. The Search Committee will review all applications within two weeks of their submission. Soon after, qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a screening phone call, followed by a campus visit for any selected finalist candidates. With the candidates’ permission, reference calls will take place after the campus visit. An offer will be made to the finalist candidate; all offers are conditional upon clearance of a background check.

Founded in 1962, Seven Hills is a learning community whose mission is to develop the intellect, engage the spirit, and foster respect for, and responsibility to our world. Our beautiful campus, located on 9 acres of former ranch land near Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek, CA (approximately 35 miles from downtown San Francisco), is home to our outstanding preschool-8th grade program and offers over 420 students the daily opportunity to move freely from engaging classrooms to great expanses of natural outdoor space. We believe every student deserves a whole child education that harmonizes their academic growth and social and emotional development.
At Seven Hills, learning is joyful: from the preschool sandbox to the 8th-grade position paper, learning is fueled by curiosity, exploration, and the love and encouragement of trusted adults. Our small class sizes allow for greater differentiation, building strong partnerships with parents, and employing passionate teachers who love what they do and bring creativity to their daily practice of challenging, nurturing, and inspiring each child.
Nestled atop rolling hills peppered with oak trees, the campus offers a stunning, clear view ...of Mount Diablo and its adjacent hills. Walnut Creek, a city of over 70,000 people, gives the school access to the vibrant urban life of San Francisco and Oakland as well as beautiful parks and trails of suburban California (in fact, Walnut Creek owns more open space per capita than any other community in the state of California). Sitting at the junction of the highways from Sacramento and San Jose (I-680) and San Francisco/Oakland (SR-24), Walnut Creek serves as a hub for its neighboring cities—Clayton, Lafayette, Alamo, Pleasant Hill, and Concord—and allows Seven Hills to draw students and faculty from a wide geographic radius across over 30 zip codes.
