Gateway Charter School
Gateway Charter School provides an extraordinary learning environment where neuro-diversity is celebrated and the arts are the heartbeat of education. We serve students who learn differently, ensuring they have the tools, the stage, and the support to reach their full potential through our unique arts-integrated model.
The Vision
We are seeking a dynamic, multi-faceted Head of School to serve as our lead administrator, educator, chief storyteller, and growth strategist. This is a "hybrid" leadership role: you will be the guardian of our instructional mission while acting as the external face of the school to drive fundraising, enrollment, and community partnerships.
This is more than an administrative position; it is a platform to redefine what is possible for students who think differently. You will lead a dedicated staff and a supportive Board in a state that values charter innovation. At Gateway, we don’t just teach—we transform.
"We are looking for a leader who is as comfortable in a classroom as they are in a boardroom. You are a champion for the student who thinks differently and a strategist who knows how to find the resources that the student deserves."
The Four Pillars of Responsibility
1. Instructional Stewardship & Mission
Neuro-Diverse Advocacy: Ensure the school’s curriculum remains at the forefront of specialized instruction for students with challenges such as dyslexia, ADHD, and sensory processing differences.
Arts Integration: Lead the faculty in blending visual and performing arts into core academic subjects to unlock student potential.
Faculty Mentorship: Cultivate a culture of continuous professional growth for a team of creative and specialized educators.
2. Strategic Fundraising & Philanthropy
Chief Storyteller: Articulate Gateway’s impact to individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners to build a robust "culture of giving."
Grant Development: Identify and secure federal, state, and private grants to fund innovative programming and facility enhancements.
Sustainability: Lead long-term development efforts to ensure the school’s fiscal health and future expansion.
3. Marketing & Enrollment Management
Brand Advocacy: Direct the school’s narrative across digital and traditional platforms, positioning Gateway as the premier choice for neuro-diverse learners in Delaware.
Recruitment Pipeline: Build strategic partnerships with pediatricians, educational consultants, and arts organizations to maintain full enrollment.
Public Relations: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the school in media, legislative sessions, and community forums.
4. Operational & Organizational Leadership
Organization Management: Bring structure, clarity, and coherence to school operations, decision-making, and internal communication.
Financial Management: Manage the school’s budget responsibly, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment to strategic priorities.
Operations Management: Design and implement clear systems, processes, and accountability measures across teams.
