Trinity Valley School seeks an Assistant Head of School to serve as the senior steward of the student experience across the PK–12 journey. This is an engrossing, highly relational leadership role for an experienced independent school educator who delights in the daily life of a school and takes pride in making complex institutions run well for students, faculty, staff, and families.
Working in close concert with the Head of School, the Assistant Head ensures that student-facing programs, people, and systems operate with clarity, consistency, and care. This leader brings calm to complexity, supports and challenges senior colleagues, and keeps the life of the school moving forward with intention and integrity.

The Role at a Glance
The Assistant Head of School is the chief steward of student life and programming at TVS. Reporting to the Head of School, this leader oversees all student-facing programs and the senior leaders who guide them, ensuring coherence across academic, co-curricular, athletic, and experiential offerings.
This position requires sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and a steady leadership presence. In addition, the Assistant Head serves as the Head of School's chief integrator of day-to-day leadership work-convening the school's senior leadership team, coordinating institutional priorities, and ensuring that strategic initiatives move from planning to sustained execution. The Assistant Head is highly visible in the life of the school-at arrival and dismissal, in hallways and classrooms, on playing fields and stages-modeling the values and expectations of the community through daily actions.

Key Areas of ResponsibilityStrategic Leadership & Institutional Coordination
Convene and lead the school's leadership team, establishing clear rhythms, agendas, and follow-through
Partner with the Head of School to advance strategic priorities and ensure alignment across divisions and programs
Drive implementation of major schoolwide initiatives, translating vision into timelines, ownership, and measurable progress
Serve as a coordinating leader for Division Directors and the student-facing administrative team, strengthening collaboration and coherence
Monitor execution across departments and ensure that key decisions result in consistent action
Student-Facing Programs & Senior Leadership
Provide leadership and oversight for all student-facing programming across the PK–12 experience
Champion a school culture where every member of the community feels welcomed and supported, helping to ensure that teaching and learning practices honor dignity, belonging, and respect for diverse perspectives and experiences.
Directly supervise Division Directors, the Athletic Director, the Academic Support Team, and a newly created PK–12 Director of Teaching and Learning, supporting their leadership, growth, and accountability
Ensure alignment and coherence across academic, co-curricular, athletic, and experiential programs, including Trojan Outdoor Experience and Global Programming
Serve as a senior decision-maker on matters related to student life, programming, and daily operations
Additional Program Oversight (Interim)
Continue oversight of Venue Production and Orchestra until a long-term structural solution is established
Operations, Systems & Follow-Through
Oversee student-facing operations, calendars, and major events with support from a newly installed Events and Calendar Coordinator.
Establish and maintain clear routines, systems, and decision-making structures that support consistency and excellence
Anticipate challenges and address points of friction before they escalate
Partner with the CFO on budgeting related to student-facing programs, Campus Master Planning, and other strategic projects
Faculty & Adult Leadership Support
Serve as a steady, approachable presence for faculty and staff, especially in moments of pressure or transition
Drive and oversee employee accountability including the development of a faculty evaluation system and course evaluations in partnership with HR, division directors, and Director of Teaching and Learning
Support Division Directors and program leaders in supervision, evaluation, and professional growth
Clarify expectations and responsibilities while fostering trust and accountability
Student Life, Safety & Policy
Provide leadership oversight for student life policies and practices
Collaborate with the Director of Safety and Security, who oversees nursing and health services and the security team
Ensure policies are applied with fairness, consistency, and compassion
Leadership Partnership & Governance
Serve as a trusted advisor to the Head of School
Take ownership of delegated institutional priorities and special projects
Serve as an administrative liaison to Board committees as assigned

Significant leadership experience in independent schools, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in multiple school communities and bring a perspective shaped by varied cultures and governance models
Demonstrated success leading complex, student-facing programs and supervising senior leaders
Deep understanding of the rhythms of school life and the developmental needs of students across PK–12
A visible commitment to children, classrooms, and co-curricular life; this leader genuinely enjoys being present where students are
