AIM Academy is seeking an Innovation Educator to support students ranging from grades 1–8 through dynamic, integrated Makerspace/STEAM learning experiences. This position is designed for an instructor who can create a classroom environment that supports student achievement and is favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students; and motivate students to develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to provide a strong foundation for future academic success in accordance with each student’s ability.
AIM Academy is an independent school for students with language-based learning differences. The Innovation Teacher will bring knowledge and understanding of the ever-converging worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM), and an ability to weave these components together to connect curricula in order to develop a relevant and exciting program.

Areas of Responsibility
Plans and develops lessons according to AIM curriculum guidelines and applicable standards. Lesson plans must often be differentiated and tailored to individual students working at multiple levels of academic ability and remain in accordance with previous achievement.
Implements AIM’s curriculum with fidelity, following established division routines and procedures, and maintains documentation of instructional materials and assigned coursework.
Presents specific and differentiated lesson plans using a variety of techniques, including (but not limited to) projects, design challenges, exhibits, field trips, audiovisual and library resources, computers, and the Internet.
Integrates innovative and assistive technologies to support access, engagement, and skill development for students who learn differently; demonstrates willingness to implement emerging technologies into the classroom.
As a critical member of AIM’s Innovation Technology team, partners with the Director of Technology, Division Head(s), and colleagues to develop and refine curriculum, scope,
and sequence that logically flows through grade levels and prepares students for future learning.
Prepares assignments/projects and/or assessments that measure student understanding while taking into consideration specific student needs. Monitors, assists, corrects, and grades student performances.
Maintains accurate records of student academic performance, attendance, and social development. Prepares narrative reports as required by the school and participates in scheduled parent-teacher conferences.
Makerspace/STEAM Operations and Co-Curricular Programming
Supports a safe, well-organized makerspace/innovation environment, including ordering and maintaining instructional materials and supplies.
Comfort and familiarity with laser cutting and 3D printing technology and the ability to incorporate these tools meaningfully into instruction.
Facilitates intermittent outreach programming utilizing Sylvia’s Mobile STEAM Lab
Hosts a weekly Lower School After-School Makerspace/Innovation Club (compensated with an additional stipend), as assigned based on final staffing needs.
Support the Upper School Robotics Team (compensated with an additional stipend)
PA or Private Academic Certification in Elementary and/or Special Education preferred (additional relevant certifications welcomed).
Experience providing responsive, evidence-based instruction to students who learn differently, including students with language-based learning differences.
Ability to adjust instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners and to differentiate instruction for multiple levels of academic ability.
Deep respect for children as learners and individuals.
Familiarity with innovative and assistive technologies to be leveraged in the classroom setting; willingness to learn and implement emerging technologies.
Comfort and familiarity with laser cutting and 3D printing technology.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent writing, editing, and communication skills with students and families.
Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with students and staff; openness to feedback from an instructional support team.
Demonstrated commitment to professional development and lifelong learning.
