SDJA seeks a Middle School Math Teacher (Long-term Substitute) to cover a leave of absence. This is a temporary full-time position expected to run from approximately August through January. The successful candidate will bring an engaging, student-centered approach to teaching mathematics and a genuine love of working with middle school students. They will help students build confidence and fluency in math while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate knows how to make math approachable and meaningful, supporting a range of learners while encouraging students to take risks, ask questions, and develop a positive relationship with mathematics.
Requirements: SDJA seeks a teacher who demonstrates excellence in the classroom and a passion for working with middle school students. The successful candidate will possess:
A strong understanding of middle school mathematics instruction
The ability to provide differentiated instruction to support diverse learners
A passion for mathematics and teaching
The ability to inspire students to develop strong mathematical reasoning and critical thinking skills
A bachelor's degree and prior teaching experience is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Salary Range & Benefits Package: Compensation for this temporary position is based on a daily rate equivalent to an annualized salary range of $54,269 to 89,971, prorated for the duration of the assignment. The final offer will depend on several factors including, but not limited to, years and type of experience, training, practical knowledge, and education.
This is a temporary full-time position expected to run from approximately August through January. In accordance with California law, employees in this role are eligible for paid sick leave. The position also includes participation in SDJA's kosher community lunch program.
