Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $155,000 to $185,000 annually; starting pay based on experience and qualifications.
Classification: salaried, exempt.

Full-time employees whose child(ren) are admitted to The Pegasus School may be eligible for up to 50% tuition remission, subject to the school’s annual financial aid budget. Employee families may also apply for additional financial aid based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds.
In addition to Paid Time Off that may be used for sick or personal reasons throughout the year, this position typically receives up to six weeks of paid time during school break closures.

The Pegasus School seeks a Middle School Director to join our leadership team beginning July 1, 2026.
The Pegasus School seeks a thoughtful, experienced, and student-centered Middle School Director to lead a dynamic program serving students in grades 6–8. This is an opportunity to shape a division where students are known, challenged, and inspired to grow into confident, capable leaders. Grounded in a strong academic foundation, the Middle School program is designed to cultivate the habits of mind and character reflected in Pegasus’s Portrait of a Graduate. Students are encouraged to be curious scholars and critical thinkers, to communicate with clarity, collaborate with purpose, and engage the world with perspective, empathy, and integrity.
Reporting to the Head of School and serving as a member of the Leadership Team, the Middle School Director oversees all aspects of the division, including curriculum, faculty development, student life, and daily operations. The Director leads a program that balances academic challenge with meaningful support, helping students develop confidence in their abilities while also fostering resilience, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging. In collaboration with the Lower School Director and Assistant Head of School for Student Life and Community Engagement, the Director helps ensure a cohesive and developmentally responsive approach to student well-being, behavior, and community across the PK–8 program.
The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of middle school students, a commitment to faculty growth, and a collaborative leadership style. This is a highly relational role that calls for strong communication, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complexity with care and clarity. Position Details
This is a full-time, twelve-month, salaried, exempt position reporting to the Head of School.
This position supervises the Middle School division including approximately 30 faculty and staff members. Middle School includes grades 6-8 with approximately 180 students.

Preferred Qualifications
Employee must hold a master’s degree in a relevant discipline or an Educational Administration credential. Preference will be given to those with at least five years of experience in school administration and prior middle school teaching experience. Candidates with a background in independent schools are highly preferred.
The Pegasus School serves 595 students from Pre-K through grade 8. The school is situated in a park-like 14-acre setting with facilities that include a theater, gymnasium, art studios, science and technology labs, a library and classrooms.
