PART- TIME ELEMENTARY SPANISH TEACHER the 2026-2027 Academic Year
Position is 25 hours per week.
Join our growing community! We are currently seeking a Part-Time Elementary Spanish Teacher to join our dedicated faculty as we expand our lower elementary student body. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young learners in a child-centered, academically rich environment.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Part-TimeElementary Spanish Teacher implements and delivers an appropriately challenging world language curriculum.
JOB SCOPE
Teaches lessons in Spanish collaborating with other world language acquisition teachers who teach the same language. Work closely with other elementary specialty guides for grouping students and planning cross-curricular activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Implements curricula in the classroom, including cultural activities related to the target language
Encourages students and creates meaningful activities through a balance of observation, guidance, and intervention
Keeps records of student progress
Keeps records of parent communication and reports same to Director of Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary as required
Maintains an organized classroom
Prepares a folder to guide substitute during planned and unplanned absence
Prepares and submits required reports, including conference reports as outlined in the Employee Handbook, collaborating with other specialty guides who teach elementary students
Communicates with parents, administrators, and/or Student Support staff concerning the emotional and physical well-being of students
Communicates with Director of Lower Elementary, Director of Upper Elementary, Associate Head of School for Elementary, and/or Head of School as required, regarding student and parent related issues
Participates in parent conferences as required
Maintains classroom inventory and submits to Director of Lower Elementary at the end of each school year
Collaborates with Director of Lower Elementary regarding materials and classroom practices
Attends and actively participates in Specialty Guide meetings, and/or other meetings as assigned
Assists with morning carpool duty as required
Attends school, community, and/or parent education events as outlined in the Employee Handbook, or as assigned by Director of Lower Elementary
Reports all accidents/incidents at once. Completes Incident Report and delivers copies of the same to parent and school nurse
Complies with Employee Handbook for all other duties not listed
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Completes bus driver training and drive students in an Alcuin school bus as required
Mentors new Language Acquisition teachers as required
Assists with morning carpool duties as required
Recruit and prepare 6th level students to participate in the annual ISAS school Spanish Competition

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Required:
Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.
Must pass Criminal Background Checks, Drug Testing, and Reference Check
Previous experience teaching the target language
Bachelor’s Degree
3 years of language classroom training experience
Native speaker of the target language
Strong interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products
Ability to interact and communicate professionally with colleagues, students, parents, and others in the school community, and during off-campus school related activities
Ability to function as a team with colleagues and Director of Lower Elementary, and with others as required
Ability to lead a group of students without assistance from another adult
Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning
Fluency with a variety of technology tools to advance learning
Passion and patience for working with children at their developmental levels
Preferred:
5 years of language classroom training experience in the target language
Experience teaching in independent schools
Master’s Degree
WORK SCHEDULE
Schedule will be for 25 hours per week. Exact hours to be determined.
WORK CONDITIONS
Occasionally lifts classroom supplies/equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time daily
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as at a computer keyboard
Work desk positioned to have eye view of the classroom main and rear entrances
Helps set up classroom environment and student work supplies
Works in standard office climate and conditions
Participates and serves as chaperone during day/overnight camping and class trips as required
Works outdoors supervising students at recess, carpool and on school trips
PAY RANGE
Pay is based on experience and is competitive with Independent Schools in the Dallas, Texas, area.
