Charles Armstrong School is the premier school for children with dyslexia and related learning differences in the San Francisco Bay Area with a national reputation for excellence. We are a non-profit, independent, coeducational day school serving approximately 240 students in grades 1-8.
Position Overview
The Lower School Homeroom Teacher plays a central role in Armstrong's collaborative, co-teaching model for students in grades 1–5. Homeroom teachers create and facilitate daily morning meetings, teach small group language and math classes, and co-teach content areas including writing and social studies. Through differentiated, evidence-based instruction, the Homeroom Teacher maximizes student strengths and promotes academic success in accordance with Armstrong's structured literacy methodology and mission. This role requires effective communication, flexibility, and a commitment to teaching students with dyslexia and related learning differences.
Roles and Responsibilities Instructional Leadership
Provide direct, differentiated instruction in small group language and math classes
Create and facilitate daily morning meetings using Responsive Classroom approach
Co-teach writing and social studies
Identify, select, modify, and create instructional resources in collaboration with grade-level teammates and instructional coaches
