Required Education:
4 Year Degree
Are you passionate about sharing your love of the humanities with intellectually curious students? Are you inspired by the chance to be an influential member of an innovative educational community?
We are looking for individuals who excel at flexible and creative thinking; who see themselves as learners rather than lecturers; who have excellent content mastery as well as solid teaching experience; who are enthusiastic, highly motivated, committed, and eager to join a community that is passionate about supporting gifted children.
You will be expected to teach classes in grades 9-12 while fostering an effective, engaged, student-centered learning environment. Opportunities for growth, professional development, and leadership are significant as the school continues to expand.
YOU MUST HAVE:
A Masters or Ph.D. in English Literature or a related field in the humanities.
Experience working with diverse populations and teaching a culturally responsive curriculum.
A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification (may be in process; we will help qualified candidates obtain certification).
Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances.
An appreciation of both the intellectual and the social-emotional needs of gifted children.
The ability to clearly articulate evaluations and opportunities for our students and school in both written and spoken communication.
IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF:
You have completed significant coursework or a degree program in education.
You have experience in research and publication.
You have experience working with gifted children.
You are a slam poetry champion, you have a favorite foot, or you dream in science fiction.
The Grayson School is Pennsylvania's only independent non-profit school offering an accelerated academic program created specifically for gifted learners in grades PreK-12. Our innovative, research-based curriculum provides challenging academics, project-based learning, and individualized pacing in a safe and nurturing environment.
