Maret School is looking for an inspiring and engaging ceramics and sculpture teacher beginning in August 2026. Candidates should be lifelong learners who reflect the school’s mission and core values, have experience differentiating instructional strategies, possess strong communication skills, and exhibit a facility and nimbleness with technology. The position is supervised by the chair of the Visual Arts Department and includes teaching two sections of MS Ceramics, one section of US Ceramics, and one section of US Sculpture; serving as an advisor to a group of middle school students; and fulfilling one or more community responsibilities.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to and passion for equity, inclusion, and belonging across all facets of their work.
A successful candidate will:
Have demonstrated expertise in teaching foundation and advanced levels of hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing, and sculptural techniques, including carving, casting, and assembling, as well as additional fabrication and construction experience for the upper school sculpture course
Display excellent commitment to classroom management skills and enthusiasm for working with middle and upper school students with a wide range of skills, strengths, and visual art goals
Exhibit a deep passion for art education and curriculum, and interest in further enhancing our 3D arts program
Value collaborative departmental and divisional work to support our students
Have a minimum of three years of teaching experience
Master’s degree is preferred
Competitive salary and benefits. Salary range is $71,000-$122,000, depending on years of teaching experience and qualifications.
