The Science Department aims to support this mission by promoting critical thinking, deepening students' understanding and appreciation of real-life applications of science, and providing instruction, assistance, and support to students with a range of abilities and interests. The ideal candidate is well-versed in any of the core courses: biology, chemistry, and/or physics. The ability to teach elective offerings, such as anatomy and physiology, engineering, geology, marine biology, astronomy, forensic science and environmental science, is also desirable.

Faculty at Episcopal High School report to their respective department chair for guidance, support, and accountability in teaching. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Support the school’s Mission & Guiding Principles as well as the school’s DCI Statement & Priorities through appropriate words and actions.
Design, prepare, and implement lessons, activities, and resources that facilitate active and effective learning.
Develop, administer, and provide feedback on various types of assessments that are timely and appropriate for achieving course objectives.
Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for learning.
Develop and maintain strong rapport with students and provide one-on-one assistance as needed.
Incorporate technology effectively and regularly.
Keep parents, advisors, and school leaders informed of student progress.
Serve as an advisor to a small group of students and fulfill all required elements of the Advisory Program.
Lead by example in Daily Chapel, including Family Chapel.
Attend and engage actively in department meetings and other required school events.
Share resources, assist, and collaborate with fellow faculty.
Fulfill other elements of the school’s Essential Expectations and Standards of Excellence in Teaching.
