Roland Park Country School, a K-12 independent girls’ school, seeks a part-time (50%) Middle School Learning Specialist to begin August 2026. The individual in this position reports directly to the Middle School Head and will work in collaboration and partnership with the Director of Learning Support. The Middle School Learning Specialist will work with early adolescent girls in grades 5–8 and should have a strong desire to help educate courageous scholars. This individual collaborates with passionate educators to provide push-in, small group, individual, and consultative support to meet the developmental and learning needs of Middle School students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide research-based instructional and developmental support for students in grades 5-8 through push-in support, small-group instruction, and individual meetings.
Provide differentiated instruction to students to address the development of reading comprehension, written language organization, executive functioning, attentional skills, and academic self-advocacy.
Support student achievement across Middle School content areas by providing additional instructional support, including targeted intervention for students navigating the mathematics curriculum.
Collaborate with Middle School faculty and the Learning Support team to promote student-centered learning through the application of effective differentiation and individual student accommodations.
Lead or support with study skills classes.
Communicate with and provide support to parents as needed regarding students’ learning needs and well-being.
Review psychoeducational evaluations to develop Individualized Student Education Plans (ISEPs) and partner with the Lead Nurse to design and implement Individualized Student Health Plans (ISHPs).
Develop, facilitate, and collaborate on professional development activities for Middle School faculty.
Partner with interdepartmental teams, faculty, and external service providers to ensure a holistic approach to meeting student needs.
Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with research in learning support and neurodiversity.
Understands the social-emotional needs of adolescents.
Respects and values the School’s Mission and Core Values.
Creates a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Has other reasonable duties as assigned by the Middle School Head or Head of School.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK CONDITIONS:
The Middle School Learning Specialist is a 50 %, exempt 10 month position.
The individual in this position is expected to work during all hours as may be assigned by the School and during other hours for events and activities.
The Middle School Learning Specialist is expected to perform their job duties on campus, unless otherwise permitted by the Head of School.
COMPENSATION DISCLOSURE: In accordance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we are committed to providing transparent wage information for all posted job opportunities. The salary range for this position is $27,250 - $43,750 annually. Compensation is determined based on factors such as Experience, Qualifications, and Internal equity.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology or related field. Masters degree and Certificate of Clinical Competence a plus.
Minimum 5 years experience working with school-age students with language-based and math-based learning needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Remain in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Repeat motion of wrists, hands, and fingers to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer and phone.
Requires visual acuity to read a variety of written materials.
Physical agility: stand, kneel, walk, run, push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, reach overhead, crouch, and respond to emergencies.
Must be able to move around and access all parts of the campus upon request, which includes gym, turf, fields, dining hall, etc.
Occasionally ascend and descend stairs in emergency situations.
