Morristown Beard School, an independent, coeducational day school in northern NJ serving students in grades 6-12, seeks a dynamic and dedicated full-time Network Systems Administrator responsible for maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of the school’s technology infrastructure. This on-site role manages wired and wireless networks, firewalls, switches, phones, printers, and endpoint protection systems, ensuring a stable and secure environment for teaching and school operations.
The position also monitors cybersecurity systems, supports backups and disaster recovery, and assists with technical support tickets across campus. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong networking expertise and experience supporting technology in an educational environment.

Network Management
Manage and maintain wired and wireless network infrastructure
Monitor network performance, uptime, and reliability
Configure and manage switches, firewalls, and access points
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues
Maintain network documentation and diagrams
Phones & Printers
Manage Monmouth Telecom phone systems
Coordinate phone provisioning, troubleshooting, and vendor communication
Oversee printer deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and regular maintenance
Manage print servers and printer access controls
Google Workspace for Education Administration
Help manage Google Workspace for Education environment
Maintain security policies and compliance settings
Monitor and respond to security alerts and vulnerabilities
Maintain firewall and content filtering systems
Support cybersecurity training initiatives
Implement best practices for device security and data protection
Oversee backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans
Help Desk & Technical Support
Provide day-to-day support to Staff and other business units
Support faculty and staff in a service-oriented manner
Participate in after-hours or emergency support when required
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
3+ years of experience in network and systems administration
Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, Wi-Fi, firewall configuration)
Some experience with Windows domain, DNS and DHCP config
Experience managing endpoint protection systems
Experience administering Google Workspace
Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and software
Patient and service-minded
Preferred
Experience working in a K–12 or independent school environment
Experience supporting Apple device environments
Experience with MDM platforms (Mosyle preferred)
Cybersecurity certifications (Security+, Network+, or similar)
Experience with VoIP phone systems
Experience with WatchGuard firewalls
Experience with HP/Aruba switching
Experience maintaining business relationships with tech vendors, including phones, ISPs, firewall, switching, etc.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands of this position require the ability to move throughout a multi-building campus, including walking between buildings, climbing stairs, and utilizing ladders to access equipment in confined spaces or high areas. The position requires regular, independent handling of IT hardware, including lifting, carrying, and transporting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Additionally, the role demands fine dexterity for cabling and repair tasks, as well as the ability to frequently bend, stoop, and kneel to install, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure.
