Summary: The role of the Live-Out Residential Supervisor is to help foster a healthy and inclusive residential environment where each girl feels empowered to live comfortably and grow. This position requires a responsible, caring, energetic, and engaged professional who is interested in helping high school girls make connections, develop relationships, and navigate all aspects of community living. The position would include residential life duties predominantly with a 40 hour work week, Tuesday through Saturday from 2:15pm- 10:45pm, for the rest of this school year (mid-June). This position will most likely change the working day for next school year, starting in August but the hours will remain the same. This position requires experience in residential life and/or youth mentoring. This position is instrumental in supporting the residential life team to create a homelike atmosphere in the dorms centered on inclusion and belonging, and is willing and available to regularly socialize and talk with students and help when advice is needed.
Essential Job Functions:
Approaches students with curiosity and focused on building trusting relationships;
Foster a sense of belonging, empathy and curiosity;
Provides afternoon, evening and or weekend duty supervision of the dorms;
Monitors study hall and assists the students with homework when needed and appropriate;
Communicates all concerns promptly to the Director of Residential Life or another School Administrator if Director is unavailable;
Develops professional relationships with students and team members;
Contributes to the provision of an environment which supports the academic, social, emotional and physical well-being and development of students;
Follows all school emergency procedures while keeping a calm composure and prioritizing the safety and well-being of students;
Supervises, cares and accounts for the whereabouts of students; which includes chaperoning weekend outings.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Life or Upper Management
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Previous experience in residential life preferred
Have an energetic, caring and positive demeanor
Strong interpersonal skills, a sense of humor and a genuine interest in working with adolescent girls
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative fashion
Understanding and appreciation of multicultural diversity
Must possess excellent verbal communication and listening skills
Must hold a valid California driver license and have automobile insurance
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google functions and a willingness to learn other tech platforms such as Canva, Cricut and Orah
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, run, observe and monitor student behavior in all facets of the school environment.
Must be able to reach, bend and/or lift 50 pounds
Must be able to drive students to and from activities, days and evenings, as needed
Compensation & Benefits
FSHA offers a competitive full-time hourly range of $24.00 - $28.00, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
