Merion Mercy Academy, an independent Catholic college preparatory school for girls in grades 9–12 outside Philadelphia, seeks a collaborative and student-centered Math Specialist to support student learning across the mathematics program, from Algebra through AP Calculus, beginning August 2026.
Grounded in the Mercy tradition, Merion Mercy is committed to fostering a community of academic excellence, compassion, and service. The Math Specialist plays an essential role in advancing this mission by partnering with faculty to ensure that all students are supported in developing confidence, competence, and a deep understanding of mathematics.
Reporting to the Dean of Academics, this position focuses on data-informed instruction and targeted intervention. The Math Specialist works closely with students in individual and small group settings, using assessment data to identify learning needs, close gaps in understanding, and strengthen mathematical thinking. The role also includes collaboration with faculty to align support with classroom instruction and contribute to a cohesive, student-centered math program.
Responsibilities
Provide individualized and small group support for students in courses ranging from Algebra through AP Calculus
Use formative and summative assessment data to identify student needs and design targeted instructional interventions
Partner with math faculty to align support with curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices
Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teachers, advisors, and families
Help students develop effective study habits, problem-solving strategies, and mathematical confidence
Contribute to a collaborative professional culture through active participation in department and faculty work
Support the mission of the school and contribute to the broader life of the community.
