Ravenscroft School is seeking a Private Guitar Lesson Instructor to provide high-quality private instruction to students in grades 4–12. This part-time role supports the school’s Fine Arts program by delivering individualized, literacy-based guitar instruction, fostering student growth, and preparing students for performance experiences throughout the academic year.
This position is ideal for a skilled and student-centered guitar educator who is passionate about teaching learners of varying ages and abilities, values strong communication with families, and enjoys contributing to a collaborative and growth-oriented music community.

What You'll Do
Teach private guitar lessons to up to 10 students in grades 4–12 on a rotating basis throughout the academic year
Establish and maintain a consistent lesson schedule in accordance with the Private Lesson Scheduling Rules and Guidelines and the school’s 8-day rotation
Design and implement a literacy-based curriculum grounded in guitar pedagogy, technique, and musical application
Prepare students for at least one required performance each academic year
Provide regular feedback to students and families, including written feedback through comments and rubrics twice annually
Communicate proactively and professionally with students, families, and relevant faculty
Create lesson assignments and support consistent student practice and progress
Assist students and families with instrument rental or purchase, as well as basic instrument care, tuning, and maintenance
Serve as a Recital Manager and Recital Class Clinician for at least one Private Lesson Recital and one Private Lesson Recital Class during the academic year
Maintain accurate records and uphold a positive, professional, and collaborative studio environment
Demonstrate a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement in teaching and learning

Qualifications
Required:
Minimum of 3 years of successful private guitar teaching experience with students in grades 4–12
Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education
Strong proficiency as a guitarist, with performance experience
Demonstrated knowledge of guitar pedagogy, instructional approaches, and technique
Experience teaching a broad range of musical styles
Ability to motivate students and adapt instruction for varying developmental levels and abilities
Strong professionalism, organization, communication, and collaboration skills
Willingness to serve as Recital Manager and Recital Class Clinician as outlined
Preferred:
5 or more years of private guitar teaching experience, including preparing students for recitals
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music or Music Education with Guitar as a primary instrument
Demonstrated interest in teaching both beginning and advanced learners
Experience fostering a positive and nurturing studio culture
Experience developing or expanding a guitar program in a school or community setting
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This role is based on Ravenscroft’s campus and involves working in music studios, classrooms, and performance spaces. The position requires standing and sitting for extended periods, working with instruments, and moving throughout campus. Occasional evening or weekend commitments are required for recitals or performances. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
