We are seeking a talented and professional individual to join our leadership team as Educational Director. The ideal candidate will excel in these key areas: building trusted partnerships with parents, supporting and mentoring teachers, and ensuring children have an optimal educational experience, which aligns with our values. This person will report to the Director and be a member of a small, dynamic administrative team serving the needs of the school’s children, faculty, and parents.
Responsibilities include:
Work closely with the Director to support and promote our mission to provide an exceptional early childhood program.
Assist the Director with the overall management of the school and its day-to-day operations.
Interact with families to provide information, answer questions, and address concerns about child development.
Guide teachers on classroom management, teaching strategies, parent conferences, and designing tailored approaches to meet children’s needs.
Hold staff and parent meetings, manage classroom coverage, develop policies, assist with admissions, professional development, and hiring.
Any additional duties determined by the Director, including compliance with Article 47 and NYC DOHMH requirements, permit renewal, and paperwork.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master's in Early Childhood Education or a related field, NYS permanent teaching certification (Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Child Psychology or an M.S. in Social Work, also a plus)
At least 5 years of experience as a Lead Teacher in a preschool.
At least 5 years of experience giving guidance to parents of young children and supervising teaching staff
Knowledge of child development and the ability to develop strategies to help children reach milestones
Knowledge of Article 47 regulations and the NYC DOHMH permit process
