Chief Financial Officer Providence High School | Burbank, California Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2026 (earlier start possible for the right candidate) Providence High School (PHS) seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a strategic, mission-driven leader and trusted partner to the Head of School and Board of Regents. The Role Reporting directly to the Head of School, the CFO is a member of the Head’s Cabinet and Leadership Team and serves as staff to the Board’s Assets Committee. The CFO provides both strategic leadership and operational oversight, ensuring that financial decisions and business practices are aligned with institutional priorities, long-range planning, and the lived experience of students, faculty, and staff. The CFO oversees a broad and integrated portfolio that includes: • Finance and accounting • Human resources • Information technology • Plant operations and facilities • Campus security and risk management • Legal and compliance matters • Food service and other contracted services This role directly leads and supports a team of approximately 10 professionals across finance, IT, facilities, and HR, as well as key external partners and vendors. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Institutional Leadership • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Head of School and Board of Regents on financial, operational, and risk-related matters • Translate institutional priorities and strategic initiatives into clear, sustainable financial and operational plans • Act as a catalyst for positive change, including infrastructure improvements, systems modernization, and process redesign • Partner closely with academic and advancement leaders to align resources with mission and strategy • Drive technological innovation across finance and operations by identifying, evaluating, and implementing systems and digital solutions that enhance data integrity, reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making. Financial Stewardship & Oversight • Lead all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and long-term financial planning • Ensure strong internal controls, audit processes, and compliance with applicable regulations • Oversee accounting, investment oversight, and relationships with auditors and financial advisors • Provide clear, timely, and transparent financial reporting to leadership and the Board • Lead annual external audit and related tax filing Operational Excellence • Ensure effective, efficient, and mission-aligned operations across facilities, IT, HR, security, and risk management • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems that support both current needs and future growth • Oversee campus infrastructure and physical plant with an eye toward safety, sustainability, and long-term stewardship • Manage vendor relationships and contracted services with clarity, accountability, and care People & Culture • Lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of professionals with clarity, empathy, and elevated expectations • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and service across operational teams • Partner with school leadership to support recruitment, retention, and professional growth of faculty and staff Ideal Candidate Profile The successful candidate will bring many (though not necessarily all) of the following: • Senior-level financial and operational leadership experience, preferably in an independent school, nonprofit, healthcare, or mission-driven organization • Demonstrated ability to think strategically while also managing complex day-to-day operations • Strong financial acumen paired with the ability to communicate clearly with non-financial audiences • Experience leading teams, managing change, and building trust across constituencies • A leadership style that is collaborative, steady, values-driven, and solutions-oriented • Appreciation for (and ideally experience with) Catholic or values-based institutions • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a MBA or CPA preferred, 10+ years of progressive financial experience, including 5 years in senior leadership, alongside expertise in strategic planning, financial reporting (GAAP), risk management, and capital raising.
